11. Looking in the Mirror
#247: A pilgrim who is in the state of consecration is prohibited from looking into a mirror in order to enhance their appearance. However, there is no objection to their using a mirror for other purposes. For example, a driver is permitted to look into the rear-view mirror in order to check traffic. A pilgrim may look into the mirror in order to treat an injury or to make sure that nothing covers their skin, which could obstruct the water for wudū from reaching the skin. This rule probably also applies to all other reflective surfaces. If a pilgrim has looked into a mirror in order to preen, they have to recite the talbiyyah anew.
There is no objection to wearing glasses for medical reasons.
