Hajj Ritual

Appropriate conduct in Mina

It is recommended that the pilgrim remain in Mina during the entire period of the stay. They should not leave, not even for a recommended ṯawāf. It is recommended that they recite the takbir after performing fifteen prayers (ten in other cities) commencing from the time of Adh-Dhuhr on the day of the sacrifice. The preferred recitation of the takbir is thus:

الله اكبر، الله اكبر، لا إله إلا الله والله أكبر، الله أكبر ولله الحمد، الله أكبر على ماهدانا، الله اكبر على مارزقنا من بهيمة الانعام، والحمد لله على ما أبلانا

(Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no God except Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. Allah is the Greatest, and all praise is due to Allah. Allah is the Greatest in that He has guided us. Allah is the Greatest in that He has granted us animals for sustenance. All praise is due to Allah in that He puts us to a test.)

It is recommended that all obligatory and recommended prayers be performed in the Mosque of Kheef.

Abu Hamza Thumali has reported that the Fifth Imam (as) stated that someone who recites a hundred raka´āt in the Mosque of Kheef in Mina before departing from there will be rewarded with the equivalent of the worship of seventy years. Someone who recites "Subhānallāh" in this Mosque a hundred times will attain the reward for freeing a slave. Someone who recites "Lā ilāha illallāh" there a hundred times will be rewarded with the equivalent of saving a life. Someone who recites there "Alhamdu lillāh" a hundred times will be rewarded the equivalent of giving in charity the revenue of the two Iraqs (which means Kufa and Basra, Translator's Note).
