The Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority in Europe inaugurates the Imam al-Baqir (P) Center in South London, in the presence of a number of preachers, mosque leaders, and Islamic center representatives from the United Kingdom and various European countries.

The Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority in Europe, Sayyid Murtadha al-Kashmiri, inaugurated on Saturday, April 21, the Imam al-Baqir (P) Center in the southern part of the British capital, London. The event was attended by a distinguished group of scholars and preachers from different European countries. On this occasion, he delivered a guiding speech in which he stated:
This institution, affiliated with the Council of Scholars in the United Kingdom, has been honored by bearing the name of the fifth Imam of the Muslims, Imam Muhammad ibn Ali al-Baqir (P), who, in his time, manifested the foundations of the School of Ahl al-Bayt (P). The scholars of hadith and leaders of various schools of thought, from different orientations, transmitted from him narrations that enriched the field of knowledge with the intellectual legacy of Ahl al-Bayt (P) across diverse sciences and disciplines. We hope that this center will serve as a continuation of the role undertaken by Imam al-Baqir (P) in his era, in attracting people from various backgrounds, and that it will become a hub for accessing the rich heritage left to us by our Imams (P), particularly for some youth who are captivated by superficial and misleading cultures.
This year’s Eid al-Fitr has passed while being mixed with grief and sorrow due to the calamities and tragedies afflicting our brothers in faith and belief. The cries of children are rising, the tears of bereaved mothers are flowing, and flames are engulfing their homes, while they do not know at which moment their lives may be taken. How can a person enjoy food while seeing others who cannot find even a piece of bread to satisfy their hunger? Or witness his brothers living without shelter and basic needs? How can one find comfort while seeing with his own eyes such a painful and heartbreaking scene—165 innocent fasting boys and girls being killed in broad daylight, openly and publicly? What kind of oppression is this, and what violation of humanity? Where are those who claim to defend human rights? Where are the free people of the world? Where are those who possess even a fragment of humanity? Does this painful scene not move them? They—and others—will be held accountable on the Day they stand before the Just and Wise, as Allah says: “And those who have wronged will come to know to what fate they will return.”
We have no recourse except to raise our hands to Allah, the Exalted, to relieve this distress, remove this hardship, grant healing to the sick and wounded, envelop the martyrs in His vast mercy, and protect the believers wherever they may be.
On another note, on the evening of Sunday, April 22, His Eminence received a group of scholars from European and Scandinavian countries. They discussed regional developments, current events, the condition of the believing community in the West, and their engagement with the activities organized by Islamic institutions and centers, as well as their interests in learning the matters of their religion and creed. The scholars, in turn, expressed their gratitude to the institution for the guidance and advice it provides, as well as for the direction of the Supreme Religious Authority, praying that Allah preserve our maraja', their seminaries, and their sacred shrines, and grant them security and safety. Indeed, He is All-Hearing, Responsive.
