The representative of the Leading Marja’iya reminds Muslims of the demolition of the graves of the Imams of Baqi' (a.s.) on 8th Shawwal 1344 AH (1926 CE)

Every year, a painful anniversary passes for the Islamic Ummah, filling hearts with sorrow and grief - the demolition of the graves of the Imams of Baqi' (AS). This act targeted not just physical structures, but a great symbol of Islam, affecting the core of the religion.
This incident can't be construed as a mere historical event; rather it's a happening with theological, cultural, and humanitarian dimensions, requiring conscious reflection. The Baqi' cemetery housed the graves of four Imams of Muslims:
- Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (a.s)
- Imam Ali ibn al-Hussein Zayn al-Abidin (a.s)
- Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s)
- Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (a.s)
It also contained many companions, followers, and wives of the Prophet (s.a.w.w.).
For centuries, Baqi' was a place of pilgration for Muslims, visited for blessings and to remember those great souls. Its architecture reflected the Ummah's respect for its religious symbols.
The Imam Ali Foundation condemns this incident and its hurtful memory for the Ummah. Yet, it's an opportunity to rethink our responsibilities towards our heritage and unity. Let's commemorate this anniversary consciously, combining loyalty to Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.) with efforts for Muslim unity and building a future of awareness and justice.
We ask Allah Almighty to hasten the reappearance of His twelfth Imam (a.j.t.f.), grant victory to Islam and Muslims with his appearance, grant us the Ziyara of the Prophet (s.a.w.w.) and the Imam of Baqi' (a.s.), in the best way and make us follow their path.
