On the Occasion of the Approaching Blessed Eid al-Ghadir, the Imam Ali Foundation (a) and the Office of Liaison with Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani (may Allah prolong his life) in London have issued a message calling upon Islamic institutions and centres to commemorate this great occasion.

The text of the message is as follows:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

All praise belongs to Allah, who made Wilayah the fortress of faith, through which He perfected the religion of Islam and completed His favour upon His servants. Blessings and peace be upon the Seal of the Messengers, Muhammad, and his pure family, whom Allah has purified completely and removed all impurity from them.
To the respected brothers and sisters responsible for Islamic centres in Western countries,
Peace and the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.
We address you today as we stand on the threshold of one of the greatest occasions in Islam—a day intrinsically linked to the perfection of religion and the completion of divine favour; a day on which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), before tens of thousands of people in the desert of Ghadir Khumm, proclaimed that eternal declaration whose echoes continue to resonate throughout the centuries:
“For whomever I am his master, Ali is his master.”
Eid al-Ghadir is not merely an annual remembrance that we commemorate in a routine manner, nor is it a symbolic celebration observed merely out of obligation. Rather, it is a monumental occasion of faith and a defining moment in Islamic belief. It represents the natural continuation of the Prophetic mission and embodies the divine proclamation safeguarding the religion from loss and deviation.
Allah, the Exalted, says:
“O Messenger! Convey what has been revealed to you from your Lord; and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message.”
Then, following the completion of that proclamation, He says:
“Today I have perfected for you your religion, completed My favour upon you, and chosen Islam as your religion.”
Dear brothers and sisters,
These verses alone are sufficient to make Ghadir a living cause and a perpetual project within the conscience of the Ummah, rather than a limited seasonal event.
For this reason, the responsibility of reviving and celebrating Eid al-Ghadir in Western societies rests upon your shoulders in an even greater measure. You stand on the front lines of cultural and doctrinal preservation, carrying the trust of safeguarding the identity of future generations in environments crowded with competing ideologies and initiatives that seek—intentionally or otherwise—to dilute religious identity and weaken attachment to foundational beliefs.
Today, Islamic centres are not merely places where rituals are observed; they are fortresses of identity, houses of the Prophetic message, and beacons of awareness and guidance.
Accordingly, the commemoration of Ghadir within these centres should reflect the magnitude of this noble mission.
Dear respected brothers and sisters,
Our sons and daughters growing up in Western societies desperately need to experience Ghadir—not merely hear about it. They need to taste its meanings through your programmes and activities and witness through it the greatness of belonging to the school of Amir al-Mu’minin, Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
Organise celebrations that allow young people to feel the greatness of this occasion.
Arrange intellectual seminars that introduce the reality and significance of Ghadir.
Provide opportunities for young people to creatively express their love and loyalty.
Celebrate Ghadir in the languages of the societies in which you live so that its message may reach both Muslims and non-Muslims.
Utilise modern media, social media platforms, and cultural programmes to present a contemporary Ghadiri discourse—one that is balanced, profound, authentic, and engaging.
The world today groans under the weight of injustice and searches desperately for genuine models of justice and righteous leadership. More than ever, humanity needs to become acquainted with Amir al-Mu’minin Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him)—the very model about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
“Ali is with the truth, and the truth is with Ali.”
Present Imam Ali to the world as he truly is:
A voice of justice.
A symbol of humanity.
A school of wisdom.
An eternal example of integrity, courage, and selfless giving.
Dear respected brothers and sisters,
Reviving Ghadir is not a cultural luxury; it is a sacred responsibility.
Every effort made to strengthen its meanings is a building block in preserving the religion of future generations.
It is narrated from Imam al-Ridha (peace be upon him):
“If people truly knew the virtue of this day, the angels would shake hands with them ten times every day.”
How, then, is it fitting for such a tremendous occasion to pass unnoticed or be commemorated half-heartedly?
And how can we allow ourselves to miss this golden opportunity to cultivate awareness, renew our covenant, and deepen our attachment to Wilayah?
We therefore urge you to make Eid al-Ghadir this year an extraordinary event in your centres—
An event that awakens hearts,
Inspires determination,
And renews allegiance to Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him).
Let your halls be filled with his remembrance.
Let your pulpits resound with his virtues.
Let your gatherings be adorned with his banner.
Let your programmes pulse with his message.
For every generation connected to Ghadir is a generation protected from loss, and every heart filled with the love of Ali (peace be upon him) is a heart in which we plant the seeds of guidance and steadfastness.
We ask Allah, the Most High, to bless your efforts, make your centres beacons of guidance, grant you success in commemorating this occasion in a manner befitting its majesty, and count you among those who firmly hold to the Wilayah of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him) and strive to spread and revive it.
Peace and the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.
May every Ghadir find you as raised banners in the service of Wilayah and the revival of the cause of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
