The representative of the Grand Marjey’ah in Europe would like to extend his sincerest condolences to the Islamic World on the martyrdom of the sixth Imam, Imam Ja'far Al-Sadiq (a.s).
He also hands the scholars, the speakers, the educators, and the Islamic organizations the responsibility of raising their children based on the Ahl ul-Bayt (a.s) school of thought, as well as getting them familiar with their Imams because the Imams (a.s.) are the best exemplars over the course of Islamic history.
27 Shawwal 1441

The following talk was given online on the 25th of Shawwal on the occasion of the martyrdom of Imam Al-Sadiq (a.s):

The annual commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Ja'far Ibn Muhammad, Al-Sadiq (a.s.), is upon us. On this occasion, we grew accustomed to holding an annual conference in one of the European capitals. Unfortunately, as a result of the corona virus pandemic that befell the world, we believed that the event was too important to cancel and decided to hold the 10th annual conference online. Imam Ja'far Al-Sadeq (a.s.) is the Imam of the jurists, the teacher of the scholars, and the son of Imam Muhammad Ibn Ali Al-Baqer (a.s.). He established the university of Ahl ul-Bayt (a.s.) in Madinah to disseminate the different fields of Islamic study, the natural sciences as well as the humanities. Many scholars, jurists, theologians, philosophers, natural scientists as well as others graduated on his hands and that's without mentioning the historians and the narrators, their names are well-documented in the books of narrations and history. Through this university, he established a new curriculum to classify and respond to confusions and ideas that differed with Islamic thought, using objective discussions, and constructive criticism that is characterized by a spirit of love and openness to both close and far following the example of his forefathers (a.s.). It is with this very manner and example that he was able to win over many adversaries who would join his school of thought. To understand the strategy that he (a.s.) used, we need specialists from different academic fields to clarify to us its intricacies and that is because Islamic scholars no matter how capable they are might not be able to confirm these natural sciences and the humanities. Therefore, we need specialists to present this information in an academic format that is understood by academics so that they may benefit from it.

Now let's look as different aspects of his life:

1. Imam Al-Sadeq (a.s.) was the first to place a system of specialization before modern day universities. He also appointed to each one of these fields of study students who were specialists in that particular field. In Islamic law, principles of Islamic law, narrations and so forth, he has Zurarah Ibn A'yan, Abu Baseer, Muhammad Ibn Muslim and others. In linguistics he had Aban Ibn Taghleb, In Qu'an, he had Himran Ibn A'yan and others. In philosophy, rhetoric, Imamate, tawheed and debates, he ahd Hesham ibn Al-Hakam, Hesham Ibn Muslim, Mu'min Al-Taq, and Muhammad Ibn Al-Mahyar. In gnosis, the secrets of the universe, existence and the secrets of mankind he had Al-Mufadhal Ibn 'Umar. In chemistry and physics, he had Jaber Ibn Hayyan whose books were translated in the Western world to different languages, such that they professed that chemistry is to Jaber as logic is to Aristotle; as well as many more scholars, who cannot be mentioned in this short dissertation.

2. Imam Al-Sadeq (a.s.) had a scientifically empirical methodology to discuss thought and to mend it. He raised his students to be able to debate with the leaders of different sects, schools of thought and theories. This is one of the things that must be brought to light by the specialists to prove that Imam Al-Sadeq (a.s.) is the one that created this scientific empirical methodology, not western scholars.

3. Imam Al-Sadeq (as.) was the teacher of the leaders of the Islamic schools of thought, especially Abu Hanifah, Malik, Ibn Jurayh, Yahya Ibn Sa'eed, Sufyan Al-Thawrie, Ibn 'Ayeenahand Shu'bah, as well as other important scholarly figures from that time. As for Al-Shafi'ie and Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, they studied under the students of Imam Al-Sadeq (a.s.).

4. Imam Al-Sadeq's (a.s.) school of thought included many different fields of study including Islamic studies and humanities. his school of thought gave importance to the Holy Qur'an, the Sunnah, Islamic law, linguistics, history, principles of jurisprudence, theology, rhetoric, and Islamic philosophy. It also gave importance to other fields of study such as astronomy, medicine, biology, botany, chemistry, physics as well as other sciences.

5. It distinguished itself by having depth and sound methodology, as it depended upon proper scientific proofs as a foundation. As a result of its innovation in diverse fields of study, his (a.s.) school of thought was able to develop experts in each field, pillars of thought, producing for the nation symbols of scientific giving. It also produced exemplars of righteousness as a result of its accomplishments in its mission and reformation. Being associated with the school of Imam Al-Sadeq (a.s.) became a source of pride, such that its students exceeded ten thousand, of which Shaykh Al-Mufeed counted 4000 who were trustworthy.

6. The school of Imam Al-Sadeq (a.s.) focused on documenting the hadiths and protectors of the Sunnah, after it faced loss, change, and deviant politicization because of the prohibition of preserving the hadith instated by previous regimes. Despite all of the reasons given to prevent documentation of the hadith such as preserving the holy Qur'an from change, the infallible Imams (a.s.) did not adhere to the decision of prohibiting hadith compilation. Everyone knew that the true reason for such a prohibition by the political powers was to erase the Sunnah that emphasized a strong connection to Ahl ul-Bayt (a.s.). The tyrannical dictators focused on depleting the allegiance people had for Ahl ul-Bayt 9a.s.) so that thye may lead them astray.

Imam Al-Sadeq (a.s.) is reported to have said:
"Surely, by Allah! With what we have been given [by Allah], we need no one, but people need us. We have the book as dictated by the messenger of Allah (s.a.w.) in the handwriting of Alh (a.s.), and we have a document that is 70 arms lengths which cantains every halal and haram."

It is reported that he also said:
"Our knowledge is old, forgotten, it hearts peoples hearts and hearing, and we have the red jafr, the white jafr, the scripture of Fatimah (a.s.), and we have the compilation which consists of all that people need."

He used to emphasize to his students the importance of recording and writing, he (a.s.) said:
"Preserve your books for you will need them."

He (a.s.), also, commended Zurarah's energy in preserving the hadith:
"May Allah have mercy on Zurarah Ibn Ay'an. If it were not for Zurarah the hadiths of my father would have been lost."

He also commended him and a group of his companions of whom were Abu Baseer, Muhammad Ibn Muslim, Burayd Al-'Ijlie:
"Were it not for these men, no one would be able to derive this jurisprudence. These are the protectors of the religion and those entrusted by my father (a.s.) on the halal and haram and they are the ones who will hasten to us in this world and in the hereafter."

In addition, he (a.s.) used to emphasize to his students the importance of studying together and discussing what was studied. He (a.s.) said to Al-Mufadhal Ibn 'Umar:
"Write and spread your knowledge to your brethren. If you die, pass your books down to your children for a time will come when people will only enjoy their own books."

As a result, his companions focused greatly on recording the hadiths until the well-known "Usool Al-Arba' Ma'ah" were complied, forming the first compilations of hadith of the followers of the Imams (a.s.).

Through this short dissertation, Imam Al-Sadeq's (a.s.) depth of the knowledge has become apparent as well as his (a.s.) robustness in different sciences and fields much of which were not known to people of that time. Therefore, it is up to the youth, who are astonished by the scientific advancement of the West, to know that such advancements would not have been possible without the heritage of the Imams (a.s.), which preceded such advancements by 13 centuries. Many modern scientific theories upon which their very civilizations were built are owed to them. Such as, the vascular system, and the study of human anatomy, as well as many other things that were clarified by the Imam to Al-Mufadhal Ibn 'Umar and others.

In summary, if we want knowledge, we must return to its purest sources and those are Prophet Muhammad and his progeny (s.a.w.) for they are the true embodiment of Islam.

And give allegiance to those whose communication and words Were narrated by our grandfather by way of Gabriel by way of The Almighty.

Moving away from this school of thought, is considered to be detrimental to thought, science, theology, to us and to the generations after us. It is also considered a deviation from the path of Islam and the Holy Qur'an because the Imams (a.s.) deliver to us information from revelation. Imam Al-Sadeq (a.s.) mentioned this when he said:
"If we were re to answer people based on our opinions and whim, we would have caused our own destruction. However, we answer questions based on what was left [to us] by the messenger of Allah (s.a.w.), and principles of knowledge that we have inherited from one generation to the other. We safegaurd this knowledge just as they safeguard their gold and silver."

Therefore, we must beware of the plans of the enemies of Islam to destroy the religion and deviate generations of the Muslim nation through two very dangerous plans:

1. Making these generations ignorant of their Imams, their leaders, their Islamic history and the history of the revelation for the soul purpose of uprooting these generations and cutting them off form the sources of true Islam.

2. Raising these generations to sanctify people who represent false Islam. Al-Sayed Murtadha Al-'Askari uncovered the names of 150 companions that never even existed.

it is extremely dangerous that in the Muslim countries the media, and educational systems raise generations of Muslims to venerate figures that are from here and there, even singers and others like them. While the true figures of Ahl ul-Bayt (a.s.) and what they gave in sacrifice for the advancement of humanity, are non-existent in the minds of the Ummah and that is because there is an clear agenda to derail the youth of the nation from its true path, the one drawn for them by the Prophet (s.a.w.) and the Imams (a.s.) when he said:
"The likeness of my Ahl ul-Bayt is that of Noah's Arc, whomsoever rides it will be saved and whomsoever does not will perish."

He (s.a.w.) also said:
"The likeness of my Ahl ul-Bayt is that of the stars, whenever one goes away another rises."

imam Al-Baqer (a..) said to Salamah Ibn Kaheel and Al-Hakam Ibn 'Utaybah:
"East and west, you will not find knowledge that is correct except that it has come from us Ahl ul-Bayt (a.s.)."

He (a.s.) also said:
"Surely there is no one who has knowledge, or truth, or a verdict except that some of it was taken from Ali Ibn Abi Taleb (a.s.) and us Ahl ul-Bayt (a.s.), and there is no judicial decision that is passed truly and correctly except that it is founded, and its key, reason and knowledge is from Ali (a.s.) and from us."

Through this virtual meeting, we encourage the scholars, the speakers, the preachers, the educators, the poets, those working in Islamic and educational organizations to educate the sons and daughters of the Ummah about one of the loftiest figures of Islam, Imam Ja'far Al-Sadeq (a.s.) who is of Ahl ul-Bayt (a.s.) who Allah kept from them corruption and purified them an absolute purification, he is one of the chosen and purified representative of Allah, who Allah referred to in the verse:
" ((وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْهِمْ فِعْلَ الْخَيْرَاتِ وَإِقَامَ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاء الزَّكَاةِ وَكَانُوا لَنَا عَابِدِينَ)) "And We made them Imams to guide by Our command and we revealed onto them how to do good deeds, pray and give alms and to us they were worshippers."

((وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا وَكَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ)) "And we made them Imams to guide people by Our command for their patience and certitude in Our signs."

We ask Allah Almighty to make us successful in commemorating them by bringing their story to light and sharing the best of their words and teachings to people. As Imam Al-Reda (a.s.) is reported to have said, "Surely, if people were to know the beauty of our words, they would follow us."

Last but not least, we ask The Almighty to make us successful in commemorating such events for the Ummah truly needs them in this day and age. We also ask Him (s.w.t.) to keep this pandemic from all by Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) and his progeny (a.s.). All gratitude is to Allah The Lord of the worlds.
