12 Saban 1439

He was speaking at the Conference organized by Bait Al-Qaim Centre in Bradford on the occasion of the birth of Ali Al-Akbar (AS), which coincided on the 11th of Sha'ban – also coinciding with the advent of the birth of Imam Al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance). He speech focused on caring for the youth and assisting them with the true knowledge of the various sciences of the Ahlul-Bayt (a.s.) who enriched the world with their knowledge – especially through Imam Al-Baqir & Imam Al-Sadiq (a.s.). During their times they were able to open their doors to seekers of knowledge from different sects and religions. Dozens of scholars such as; Jaber bin Hayyan, Aban ibn Thabal, Zerara, Sufian al-Thawri, Abi Basir, Abu Hanifa, Malik, al-Aaza'i and others graduated from their school.

It is worthwhile for your young people to know these religious sciences so that they may enlighten others with them. “If people knew the beauty of our sayings they would follow us.”

The world today with its advances in technology, medicine and other fields, will not reach a tenth of the knowledge of that of the Ahlul-Bayt (a.s.). Imam Ali (a.s.) the Commander of the Faithful, during his time said: “Ask me before you lose me. Ask me about the ways of the heavens for I am more familiar with them than those of the ways of the earth.”

One look at what Sayyid Hassan Al-Sadr wrote in his book (Shi’as Establishing Islamic Sciences) it becomes clear to us what lofty status of knowledge was held by the Ahlul-Bayt (a.s.). But it is regrettable that those who lived with the Imam (a.s.) did not have the appropriate capacity to take advantage of such knowledge. Ibn Abbas narrated that he sat with the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.), one evening, from after Isha prayers till just before Fajr prayers, and he (a.s.) was revealing the secrets of Surah-ul-Fatiha and said: "If you wish I can load two camels with its Tafsir."

Secondly: Our youth should follow the example of those who were born on these days, like Ali Ibn Al-Hussain Al-Akbar (a.s.) who sacrificed himself for the sake of the principle and faith. He was the blessed and righteous child for his parents and the ideal example of young people on the path of enlightenment of the prophet (s.a.w.w) and Imams (a.s.) – because of his sublime qualities and superior Jihadi spirit.

Thirdly: We call upon our young men and women to guard themselves against the dangers of social networks, because of the negative impact these have on their religion and faith - they are the worst companion for them. This is why the political, Takfiri, criminal organizations and others exploited these networks to spread their venom – especially since there is no supervision only self-supervision. Most times we are not present to see who he/she is seeing and speaking with. Follow the children and cultivate their hearts with love and show interest in them and their gatherings and do not leave them as easy prey in the hands of sniper social networks that catch them using the following ways:

1 - [Family] If a member of the family is deceived then it’s a disaster for the whole family and this thought is transmitted to others. Therefore it is the duty of the head of the family and guardian to follow his children in full coordination with the mother to remedy any breach of this kind. However, this will not be controlled unless the parents are immune and armed with faith, ideas and awareness to understand and differentiate which is which.
2 - [Friends] This is the second way to penetrate the community. Some of them withdraw and fall under the influence of their friend’s thought because the friend is already influenced. We are not saying to prevent our children from their friends, but we must, on the one hand, pay attention to our children and befriend them on the other hand – to fill the vacuum that may occur in some young peoples’ lives.
3 - [Mosques] The houses of God are all sacred and respectable and they are the best loved places in the eyes of the Almighty. But some of these mosques have become centers for Takfiring people and calling for their killing and robbing their freedoms and cultivating a culture of hatred, rejection and destroying the identity of the other. Here we should warn the boys/girls and invite them to go to places where we trust the scholars and their discourse - to nourish them with true Islam.
4 - The use of money as an attractive way to appeal to young people and entrap them in extremism by the following ways:

- Cash
- Tourism travel
- Buying gifts and objects in kind, such as mobile phones, computers and others.
- Invoking issues of sex under the name “jihad marriage”, where hundreds of young people were engaged under such names.

As for the solutions, scholars and Mubaligheen and those concerned should:

1- Educate parents about the dangers of these Takfiri organizations and their whereabouts.
2 – Intensify scholarly courses for young people and deepen their Islamic understanding. Hold monthly seminars to hear their problems and address them.
3 – Establish development projects to employ young people and save them from unemployment and void.
4 - To stress upon the aforesaid issues in their discourse and alert people about them - that is after they learn about the deviant ideas so that they can rectify them and warn their audiences about their danger.
5 - It is essential that the West understands, through our children, that Islam is a religion of mercy and tolerance and whatever happens does not represent Islam, but represent deviant political ideas with personal revengeful ambitions.

Finally, we ask the Almighty, the Exalted, to show us and our future generations the right path. He is All Hearing and Answers Prayers.
