The representative of the leading Marja’iya in Europe congratulates the Islamic world on the upcoming holy month of Ramadan and confirms:
• The Iraqi people must adhere to the historical statement issued by the leading Marja’iya, which is the foundation for a new phase in the history of Iraq. Free nations are aware of their rights and take the initiative in their own hands - guided by the general directives contained in this statement.
• Muslim nations and governments must, in this month, seize the opportunity of brotherhood and love and harmony and discard hatred and grudges and become brothers for the love of Allah and the love of His Messenger and the love of his progeny – to be a credible example of the verses of the Qur’an.
24 Saban 1439
He delivered this sermon during Friday prayers held at the Imam Ali (a.s.) Mosque in Stockholm. He began with the sermon of the holy prophet (s.a.w.w) on the last Friday of the month of Sha’aban, in which he urged Muslims to abide by the commands of the Almighty, to stay away from His prohibitions, urging kindness to parents and compassion towards the poor, widows, orphans and the destitute, good manners, and other good qualities contained in the sermon.
As we are in the month of pardon and forgiveness, healing and tolerance, our relations should be built on love for the sake of Allah and on dislike for His sake also. This is the basis of social relations among peoples, nations, governments and others - away from dissonance, conflict - rejecting hatred ((And obey Allah and His Messenger; and fall into no disputes, lest ye lose heart and your power depart; and be patient and persevering: For Allah is with those who patiently persevere)) Holy Qur’an 8:46
If only Muslims commit themselves to the principle of love and dislike for the sake of Allah Almighty, they would not end up these days, as factions and groups. ((If they had only remained on the (right) Way, We should certainly have bestowed on them Rain in abundance.)) Holy Qur’an 72:16
He also addressed the Iraqi people, who are currently engaged in the fourth round of elections, to abide by the provisions of the democratic political statement issued, on Friday the 5th of May 2018, by the leading Marja’iya, which is the foundation for new phase in the history of Iraq. Because this statement has put many points into their proper context as follows:
It gave strength and momentum to the individual voter not to be a captive of his desires and narrow interests and not to sell his future and the future of Iraq for a few dirhams and false promises. But to rely on his mind and intellect and previous experience with those whom he lived with - without religious, partisan, intellectual or tribal influence. This is in order to choose who to vote for as his representative. Because casting a vote is a trust and a great and serious responsibility which Allah, history and future generations will hold us accountable for.
We must elect those who have competence, integrity, commitment to values and principles, moving away from foreign agendas, respect the rule of law, willingness to sacrifice for the sake of saving the country, serving the citizens and the ability to implement a realistic program to solve years of growing crises and problems.
This statement, he added, established the road map not only for Iraq, but for all nations who want to live in dignity of as planned by Allah Almighty. ((...But honour belongs to Allah and His Messenger,...)) Holy Qur’an 63:7
He also stressed to the believers that they prepare to welcome the month of Ramadhan by supplicating the Lord to help them to fast and to read the Holy Qur’an, not like some people who prepare to welcome the month of Ramadhan by stacking all sorts of food and drink or by planning entertaining programs or late nights - which are inappropriate and contradict the honour of the holy month. Therefore, we must welcome the month of Ramadhan as follows:
Repentance: Every Muslim should repent sincerely to Allah from the bottom of his heart so that he will not return to committing sin after completing the fast of the month of Ramadhan, and to start fasting with a clear page free from all previous sins and misdeeds. Sincere repentance does not occur unless:
1- It must be purely for Allah Almighty’s sake; repentance is worship and it is the most loved forms of worships by Allah Almighty, as in the following verse from the holy Qur’an: ((....Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean.)) 2:222
2- Determination not to return to the act of that sin again.
3- Radde-Madhalim, he (s.a.w.w.)
(من كان لأخيه عنده مظلمة من مال أو عرض فليتحلله اليوم قبل ألا يكون دينار ولا درهم إلا الحسنات والسيئات).
4- Repentance must be made before the door of repentance closes ((Of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil, until death faces one of them, and he says, "Now have I repented indeed;" nor of those who die rejecting Faith: for them have We prepared a punishment most grievous.)) Holy Qur’an 4:18
Supplication: When the holy month of Ramadhan’s crescent appears, every Muslim should pray to Allah Almighty with this supplication from the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.w.):
“O Allah, let this month dawn upon us with security and faith, safety and submission and help in prayer, fasting and reciting the Qur’an. ‘O’ Allah deliver to us the month of Ramadhan and receive it from us, and protect us until the end of the month of Ramdhan, in which You have bestowed Your forgiveness, Your favour and Your compassion upon us.”
To pray to the Almighty to be in the best of health and ability to perform all the acts that achieve closeness to Allah in this holy month, such as the night prayer, reading the Qur'an, seeking forgiveness, and reading the specific day and night supplications mentioned in this month.
Organizing the time: Organizing a daily schedule to benefit from every minute of the month of Ramadhan, because according to the saying of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.w.) the reward is doubled: “Whoever volunteers to offer a pray to Allah will not enter fire. Whoever performs an obligatory act of worship will be rewarded seventy times more than performing the same act during other months. Whoever recites Salawat on me, Allah will increase his rewards on the day of decreasing rewards, and one who recites a verse from the holy Qur’an will obtain the same reward as completing the whole Qur’an during other months of the year.”
He concluded the Friday sermon by quoting the words of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.w.): "O people, the doors of paradise are open this month so ask your Lord not to close them for you, and the gates of fire are closed so ask your Lord that He will not open them for you and the demons are shackled, so ask your Lord not to empower them on you.”
