The coincidence of the birth of Imam al-Sadiq (PBUH) with that of his grandfather, the Holy Prophet (PBUH), carries a profound significance and a deep message for the Muslim Ummah: that the divine mission is one continuous path, and that the Twelve Imams are the natural extension of the Prophet (PBUH), as affirmed by the Hadith of al-Thaqalayn and the Hadith of the Ark.

Humanity has lost the greatest personality ever known to humankind on the face of the earth, due to the profound impact he had on the course of human history—from his childhood as an orphan who had lost both parents, to his youth, when he became known for truthfulness and trustworthiness; from being a prophet who confronted an ignorant society in all aspects of life, to becoming a leader who established a new entity, and finally to being a Messenger who conveyed the divine message, fulfilled the trust, and whose life and legacy remain open for generations to study.

This night is among the greatest nights in the history of Islam—a night in which the highest meanings of faith, sacrifice, loyalty, and steadfastness upon principle were manifested. It contains lessons, admonitions, and insights for all segments of society, especially the youth. Among the supporters of Imam Al-Husayn (peace be upon him) were a group of young men who presented the finest examples of heroism and faith. Therefore, we must reflect upon this noble legacy and draw from it provisions for our present and future, for ourselves and for our children. What, then, are these lessons and admonitions?

Reviving their cause is not the responsibility of scholars and preachers alone; rather, it is the responsibility of every lover and follower. The scholar revives their cause through his knowledge, the preacher through his sermons, the teacher through his instruction, the father through his upbringing, the mother through instilling values in her children, the merchant through his honesty, the employee through his sincerity, and the youth through his uprightness. The closer a person comes to the noble character of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and the more he introduces people to the beauty of their teachings and way of life, the greater his contribution to reviving their cause.
